🏥 Exciting progress is taking shape at May Pen Hospital!
On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Dr. Christopher Tufton, Minister of Health & Wellness, led a tour of the new outpatient building under the Health Systems Strengthening Programme at May Pen Hospital.
Joining the Minister were Michael Stern, Board Chairman of the Southern Regional Health Authority; Michael Bent, Regional Director of the Southern Regional Health Authority; hospital management; healthcare staff; project representatives; contractors; and local leaders, all united in their commitment to strengthening healthcare services for the people of Clarendon.
The approximately 10,000 sq. ft. facility remains on track for completion next year and will significantly expand the hospital’s capacity. Planned services include additional consultation rooms, laboratory services, imaging, digital X-ray, mammography and a minor operating theatre.
Importantly, the new building is expected to free up space in the main hospital for an estimated 40 to 50 additional beds, helping to improve patient care and reduce overcrowding.
This development represents more than a new building. It is an investment in better access to healthcare, shorter waiting times, improved patient flow and stronger health services for families across Clarendon. The project is also expected to support employment and contribute to the parish’s economic growth.
